Psalms 94

The Lord Implored to Avenge His People.

1O Lord, God of
Or avenging acts
,
bvengeance,
God of
Or avenging acts
vengeance,
Or has shone forth
,
eshine forth!
2 fRise up, O gJudge of the earth,
Render recompense hto the proud.
3How long shall the wicked, O Lord,
How long shall the iwicked exult?
4They pour forth words, they jspeak arrogantly;
All who do wickedness kvaunt themselves.
5They lcrush Your people, O Lord,
And mafflict Your heritage.
6They nslay the widow and the
Or sojourner
stranger
And murder the orphans.
7 pThey have said,
Heb Yah
“The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed.”

8Pay heed, you rsenseless among the people;
And when will you understand, sstupid ones?
9He who tplanted the ear,
Or can
does He not hear?
He who formed the eye,
Or can
does He not see?
10He who
Or instructs
,
xchastens the nations, will He not rebuke,
Even He who yteaches man knowledge?
11The Lord zknows the thoughts of man,
Or For
That they are a mere breath.

12Blessed is the man whom abYou chasten, O
Heb Yah
Lord,
And adwhom You teach out of Your law;
13That You may grant him aerelief from the afdays of adversity,
Until aga pit is dug for the wicked.
14For ahthe Lord will not abandon His people,
Nor will He aiforsake His inheritance.
15For
I.e. administration of justice
,
akjudgment
Lit will return to righteousness
will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart
Lit will be after it
will follow it.
16Who will anstand up for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me aoagainst those who do wickedness?

17If apthe Lord had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
18If I should say, aqMy foot has slipped,”
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.
19When my anxious thoughts
Or are many
multiply within me,
Your asconsolations delight my soul.
20Can a
Or tribunal
,
authrone of destruction be allied with You,
One avwhich devises
Or trouble, misfortune
mischief by decree?
21They axband themselves together against the
Or soul
life of the righteous
And azcondemn
Lit innocent blood
the innocent to death.
22But the Lord has been my bbstronghold,
And my God the bcrock of my refuge.
23He has bdbrought back their wickedness upon them
And will
Or silence
,
bfdestroy them in their evil;
The Lord our God will
Or silence
destroy them.
